Thank you for visiting my campaign website and for all of the loyal support you have given to me and to our campaign over the course of my 15 years in public life. It has been a high honor to represent you, my fellow-citizens, in elective office. I was first entrusted to represent my neighbors as a citizen-legislator on the Chatham Town Council and then in the Virginia General Assembly in Richmond in both the House of Delegates and in the Senate. For the past five years I have had the rare privilege of serving as the representative in the U.S. Congress for Virginia's Fifth District. I am proud of the work that we have been able to accomplish in promoting common-sense conservative policies that make it easier for our Virginia families and our Main Street enterprises to pursue the American dream.

As you may know, I have decided to return to private life at the conclusion of my current term and will not seek re-election to Congress next year. Please accept my enduring gratitude for the opportunity to serve you, and I thank you for your gracious hospitality as I have traveled all across the 23 counties and cities of the Fifth District over these years.

If you have a question about legislation or need help with a federal agency, please contact our Washington, D.C. office at (202) 225-4711.  If you have questions about how to get involved with a local committee or campaign, please visit the Fifth Congressional District Republican Committee website at

I look forward to continuing to serve the people of the Fifth District in Washington for the remainder of my term.

With sincere thanks,

Robert Hurt
